How to Prepare for your Maternity Shoot

A maternity shoot can be a little daunting so maybe we can help ...

Some frequently asked questions:

When is the best time for me to have photos of my bump?
If you are only going to have one shoot then between 34 and 37 weeks.

Where will my pregnancy shoot take place?
Either in the comfort of your own home or on location whichever or wherever you feel most comfortable.

What shall I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing – a man’s shirt is an idea, or, if we shoot indoors, I have some lovely voile material we can use to position appropriately!

I feel a little self-conscious, will the photographer be a lady?
Yes!  You can feel totally at ease!

Sometimes I feel tired quite quickly, will that affect the shoot?
We will take our time and stop for a break whenever you need it.

Can my partner be present?
Yes, of course!  You can have photos together if you would like.

EXTRA TIPS for your maternity photo session.

At least two hours prior to your photo shoot avoid wearing any tight or elasticated clothing to prevent marks on your skin.  Try keeping clothing to plain colours so as not to detract from your bump.

If you have special jewellery, maybe something your partner bought you then it might be lovely to wear that or if someone has bought something special for the birth of your baby, it may be nice to include that in the shoot too!
